As for the beach house, it is even nicer than the pictures! Jon and I keep discussing how it feels like we're living someone else's life for a few months (someone much wealthier :) ). We sleep to the sound of the waves crashing every night. It really is a dream house. We got a great deal on it and the best part is that Jon's work is paying for it! We feel incredibly blessed.
We are in a two-bedroom/two-bath bottom floor of a house on a cliff overlooking Kalapaki Beach and the Nawiliwili Bay. Also, the Kaua'i Marriott Resort is on the beach below. It's the tall building in the middle and then a couple off towards the right in the picture.
The interior shots are a little dark because it's so bright inside... but it's the living room, dining table and kitchen. They all have windows overlooking the bay.
Here's my view while doing dishes!
My new blogging spot ;)
These are of the Nawiliwili port where cruise ships come and go out of. E likes to watch them from the window because they honk and people wave.
One of the perks in living in the Pali Kai cottages (our little strip of vacation rentals) is that for an additional monthly charge, we can use the pools and fitness center the Marriott. There is even an outdoor elevator a couple blocks down from our place that takes you right down to the pool and beach. How cool is that?! And the pool is gorgeous. Everett and I have been spending a lot of time there and at Kalapaki Beach. Which is nice because it gets really hot in our place around midday and AC is super expensive out here. So we just hang out at the pool or ocean in the afternoon. There are hot tubs under those little pentagon shaped column towers.
Jon got to come enjoy it with us this weekend.
They even have a baby pool where E has no problem meeting friends.
Here they are riding off into the sunset together!
Me, on the other hand, still working on it. We visited another church this weekend and I looked into some more women's small groups and mom's groups. I am determined to meet some ladies! So we will see how that goes. A friend from home gave me a verse this week that really encouraged me (thanks, A!):
"Wait on the Lord, and be of good courage and He shall strengthen your heart." -Psalm 27:14. He has provided for me this far, so I know if I place my hope in him I will not be disappointed in my quest for friends :) Hopefully it will be an encouragement to you too in whatever you may be going through.
Aloha!
