Wednesday night was the Katinas concert and it was so much fun! The ads said it was a family event and we didn't think it would be very cool to leave him with someone so late (for them), so we took E with us. It was a risky move because it went way past his bedtime but we figured it would be loud enough that even if he was fussy he wouldn't really be a distraction to anyone.
And I would say that he did pretty well at his first rock concert. Right when we got there he made himself comfortable. He loved the chairs - even though his little legs weren't heavy enough to hold the seat down so he kept getting folded up! But the challenge of climbing on and off them with the folding factor seemed to be very amusing to him.
Once the music started he was in awe. He just watched everyone singing, dancing and cheering. He watched the lights and even clapped his hands when he saw other people doing it. It was really cute.
Jon and I had an amazing time. What was really cool was the mayor of Kaua'i came out at the beginning to welcome everyone. He said he was excited about a great night of worship and then he even lead us all in an a cappella round of "You Raise Me Up"! Jon said he also came to their blessing ceremony at his work site a couple months ago and sang the blessing prayer. Very cool.
We've seen the Katinas perform a million times at the Rock but there was something special about them being here. It's always weird for me seeing familiar faces in such a different setting but it was definitely a good weird. We loved it and had an awesome night :-)
